“Shifting toward value-based care, in which providers are rewarded for quality care and health outcomes, rather than the quantity of care delivered, will incentivize prevention and personalization in care,” said Melissa Burroughs, public policy director at Boston-based CareQuest Institute for Oral Health.
"Today at least 68.5 million Americans lack dental insurance, according to a 2023 survey by the CareQuest Institute for Oral Health. "Removing fluoride from drinking water would also exacerbate existing health disparities — especially for underserved populations who may struggle to access regular dental care, says Melissa Burroughs, public policy director at CareQuest Institute for Oral Health, a national nonprofit focused on creating an accessible, equitable, and integrated oral health system."
"CareQuest Institute for Oral Health, which advocates for accessible and equitable dental care, found that 67% of Pennsylvanians visited a dentist in 2023, while 7% of residents skipped visiting a dentist while having an oral health problem due to costs."
A new report from the CareQuest Institute shows that adults with ADHD are more likely to experience poor oral health, with higher rates of dental anxiety, delayed dental visits, and emergency room visits for dental issues compared to adults without ADHD.
Research conducted by CareQuest found that LGBTQ+ individuals were 31% more likely than non-LGBTQ+ individuals to say their most recent dental visit was two or more years ago.
According to the study by the CareQuest Institute for Oral Health in Boston, 35.5 per cent of participants with ADHD rated their oral health as either fair or poor, with only 24.9 per cent of neurotypical respondents giving the same rating.
