“The US Supreme Court has again issued several decisions that will fundamentally change the ways in which we pursue equity and social justice in this country.
From affirmative action in higher education to student loan forgiveness to LGBTQ+ protections, these recent decisions will have lasting impacts on all of us but particularly for historically marginalized individuals.
The impact of inequity and injustice is felt in every sector of society – health care is no exception. We need health systems that represent the people they serve and that requires a pipeline of graduating clinicians as diverse as our population. We encourage our medical, dental, and STEM-focused educational institutions throughout the country to renew their commitment to equity and diversity and create purposeful plans of action.
At CareQuest Institute, we are committed to building an accessible, equitable, and integrated system for all. While our work is made more challenging by these decisions, we will not be deterred.”
