Fear and anxiety related to dental care pose a significant barrier to receiving dental treatment and affects people across socioeconomic and demographic groups. It creates a “cycle of avoidance,” which can lead to missed care, deterioration of oral health, and invasive, costly procedures that negatively impact patients and the overall oral health system. This 60-minute webinar will explore public perceptions of dental fear and anxiety, the science behind the negative feelings many individuals have about receiving dental care, and potential solutions for — and prevention of — dental fear and anxiety. Our unique expert panel — a dental provider, a clinical psychologist, and a researcher — will share their expertise on dental fear and anxiety across the lifespan and look at how childhood experiences can influence oral and overall health in adulthood.
