Implicit bias has long been a negative influence on health outcomes, perpetuating disparities across health and dental practices. How can dental professionals recognize and address these unconscious biases to create equitable and inclusive care environments?

In celebration of Black History Month and in partnership with the National Dental Association, this webinar will explore the historical roots of systemic inequities and their lasting impact on health outcomes. Learners will better understand how bias manifests in clinical settings and hear actionable strategies to identify and mitigate these biases, fostering equity and improving patient care.

Learning Objectives: 

  • Identify historical biases in health care and dentistry, and how those biases perpetuate health disparities.
  • Recognize how implicit bias can manifest in clinical settings, and how it can influence patient care and communication.
  • Evaluate strategies for addressing unconscious bias in patient interactions.
