A report from CareQuest Institute for Oral Health shows that dental patients are amenable to receiving care via teledentistry. Although dental providers have been slower than their medical counterparts to make the shift to virtual care, the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the advantages of remote, video-enabled visits. The report, which highlights findings from a survey of 111 patients, shows that patients valued the option of teledentistry and that a clear majority who received it were pleased with their experience.

Key findings of the survey include:

  • 86% of patients said they were satisfied with their overall teledentistry experience.
  • 86% said they would recommend teledentistry to another person.
  • 31% reported they didn’t need in-office care following their teledentistry appointment.

This dental-specific survey can reassure oral health providers that their patients are likely to be satisfied with teledentistry and that most will appreciate the convenience, flexibility and safety it offers.
