Course Description

Dental health professionals are often the first to notice symptoms indicative of sleep disorders due to their frequent, detailed interactions with patients. Those symptoms are not always clear, though. This course will provide practical guidance on identifying sleep health concerns during oral evaluations. We will detail the crucial role dental professionals play in both the early detection and management of sleep-related disorders. Emphasizing a whole-person, patient-centered care approach, we will also explore common sleep disorders indicated by dental issues, such as sleep apnea.

Learning Objectives
  1. Recognize sleep health issues in dental patients using insights from oral evaluations.
  2. Explain the impact of sleep health on overall health well-being and the importance of related preventive measures.
  3. Develop strategies to recommend appropriate follow-up actions, including referrals to specialists, for patients showing signs of sleep health issues.
