Smiles for Life 4th edition
Grantee Address
Arcora Foundation
400 Fairview Ave N
Seattle, WA
United States
This funding is to support the Arcora Foundation in the operation of the National Interprofessional Initiative on Oral Health (NIIOH) and the ongoing maintenance of Smiles for Life. Specifically, in 2020, Smiles for Life will be revised and updated to bring the curriculum up to date. Smiles for Life is a national oral health curriculum. It provides educational resources to ensure the integration of oral health and primary care – focused on health care providers and frontline workers, including community health workers. The current 3rd edition of Smiles for Life was released in 2010. Over the ensuing decade much has changed – the understanding of the science underpinning the promotion of good oral health, national recommendations, healthcare educational constructs, and the technology supporting the delivery of online education. The comprehensively revised 4th edition of Smiles for Life will incorporate these changes, bring the curriculum up to date, and position it to be an effective educational tool over the coming decade. Given the current pandemic and shift to online learning, the revision to Smiles for Life is timely. This funding of $39,500, supplements a previous grant in the amount of $200,000 to support the updates for Smiles for Life.
