Continued support to United SIKHS to increase overall awareness and knowledge of sound oral health practices and resources among New York (NY) and New Jersey (NJ) SIKH community members as well as improve access to oral health care services. The proposed project will further the capacity building undertaken in Year 1 to build relationships with providers across NY and NJ, in counties where the project is ongoing, and work to provide affordable and culturally relevant services. Specifically, the primary goals of Years 2-3 are as follows: 1) To develop and implement an intervention among Sikh -Americans that promotes oral health prevention to be delivered by trained community health workers and through e-Health modalities in 6 gurdwaras in NY and NJ; 2) Build closer relationships with oral health care providers in NY and NJ to improve the Sikh community's access to and utilization of relevant and affordable oral health care services. As an outcome of this intervention, improved oral health knowledge, increased preventive health behaviors, and increased access to oral health care services among Sikh South Asian Americans are expected.
