The Florida Public Health Institute plan aims to use data collection and analysis, a focus on oral health literacy, and increased collaboration among health care providers to increase awareness of and utilization of preventive and restorative oral health services in Florida. At the end of two years, FPHI will have fostered the development of a statewide system of oral health data collection and analysis using the ASTDD-BSS as a data collection tool with a focus on institutionalized seniors, emergency room hospitalization for oral health issues, and children's oral health data gathered in partnership with county health departments and local coalitions. The data analysis will be synthesized with the Healthy Mouth Healthy Body oral health literacy campaign to build community and policymaker awareness of the importance of oral health prevention and to educate medical providers and others on key oral health preventive services.
