The New Jersey Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP/NJ) will pilot a regional hospital-based wellness program to establish and sustain partnerships between pediatric and dental providers, initiative a public health education campaign and partner with the Medicaid HMO to develop and implement changes to payment structure and administrative processes, with a goal of improving access to preventive oral health services for children birth to 3 years. Training medical providers to perform preventive services , make referrals to community dentists, and deliver oral health literacy materials in partnership with HMOs will dramatically increase the knowledge and awareness of oral health prevention.
