The Pittsburgh Community Improvement Association will plan a Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR) oral health improvement program in partnership with the impacted community, African American males aged 21-60, and the Morehouse School of Medicine Prevention Research Center. By utilizing the Neighborhood Planning Unit structure established in Atlanta, PCIA aims to utilize existing infrastructure to foster community engagement. PCIA will use an oral health ambassador model to provide culturally-appropriate outreach and better understand the needs of the community to design an effective intervention strategy.
