Funding supports replication of the Early Childhood Oral Health Consortium model implemented in Massachusetts by the Head Start Association, to reach children in Pennsylvania. The MA Consortium will assist Head Start leadership in PA to increase access to dental care for the Head Start population. The proposed program will increase oral health awareness for Head Start administrators and parents, and recruiting and supporting pediatric dentists and general dentists from private and public sectors to serve as dental homes for young, racially and ethnically diverse children at high-risk for dental disease. With the success of the Cavity Free Kids curriculum-based-training and the Family Guide developed by MA Head Start, the organization is positioned to collaborate with other Head Start Associations to assist with developing culturally sensitive curricula and materials with evidence-based oral health information.
