Through a local and state-based approach, Kansas Association for the Medically Underserved (KAMU) will promote integration of medical and dental care at CHCs through center-based collaborative teams, by using the Smiles for Life curriculum and through an evaluation of electronic health information systems. In addition, KAMU will elevate the importance of oral health with CHC executives through the creation of a forum, the Kansas Dental Executive Network, by engaging Center quality improvement teams on integration and oral health issues and by introducing leadership concepts. KAMU’s track record of accomplishments has built upon the organization’s ability to work well collaboratively toward a common goal while demonstrating effective leadership and thus positioning the organization as a strong opinion leader amongst key stakeholders.
