The University of Colorado Denver will continue activities to engage physician assistants (PAs) in primary oral health care and expand PA involvement in oral health through the use of the Smiles for Life Curriculum, and in doing so, support the mission and goals of the National Interprofessional Initiative on Oral Health (NIIOH) across the four physician assistant professional organizations. Physician Assistants are uniquely placed in diverse settings providing care across the lifespan of patients. As new PAs are trained to address oral health issues and prevention as a component of the care that PAs provide, new points of access will become available to those in need of access to oral health services.
