Support to the North Dakota Department of Health to implement a plan for the implementation of policy including Smiles for Life in medical and nursing school curricula, preparing students to work as a collaborative team in the practice setting, and as policy is also adapted to expand the roles of medical providers by restructuring medical codes for fluoride varnish application, and oral health screening and risk assessments. Implementation of a long-term care pilot project will lead to improved oral health care outcomes for elderly patients as they receive coordinated, patient-centric, preventative care from health providers across disciplines.
