Support to the New Jersey Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP/NJ) to implement a plan to pilot a regional hospital based dental wellness program to establish and sustain partnerships between pediatric and dental providers, initiate a public health education campaign, and to partner with the Medicaid HMO to develop and implement changes to payment structure and administrative processes, improving access to preventative oral health services for children birth to 3. Outcomes will include the training of medical providers through the EPIC Oral Health training to perform preventative services, increase in referrals to community dentists, and the delivery of oral health literacy materials in partnership with HMO’s in the state that will dramatically increase the knowledge and awareness of oral health prevention.
