Support to the Delaware Division of Public Health to envision Delaware, as the First State, to ensure optimal oral health through systems improvement. Building on past collaborations, the Delaware Oral Health Coalition will be strengthened to expand its sphere of influence to improve the oral health infrastructure and develop a plan to improve oral health literacy across the lifespan. The Coalition will lead the revision of the Delaware Oral Health Plan that will serve as the blueprint for policy development, funding, access to care, and community activities to reduce the burden of oral disease and improve disease prevention strategies. The oral health literacy initiative will extend the established First Smile Delaware campaign that targets families with young children, to all segments of the population. The project-planning year will be devoted to building organization capacity, increasing strategic partnerships, development of the state oral health plan, and strategies to improve oral health literacy and secure sustainability. The Bureau of Oral Health and Dental Services within the Division of Public Health will manage the projects.
