The American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) is the largest national organization representing the professional interests of dental hygienists. The ADHA community is made up of more than 220,000 registered dental hygienists (RDHs) from across the country. The ADHA works to support dental hygienists and advance the dental hygiene profession by developing new career paths, expanding opportunities for care, and providing the latest training and information.
The ADHA requests funding to support the development of a comprehensive Dental Hygienists Licensure Map, that mirrors the current dentist licensure map available through the American Dental Association. This innovative tool will offer detailed, state-by-state licensure information across various categories such as Initial Licensure, CE Renewal Requirements, Licensure by Credentials, and Specialty Licensure. Additionally, it will highlight the confirmed Dental Hygiene Licensure Compact States.
The objectives of the map are to:
Enhance Accessibility of Information: Make it easier for current and prospective dental hygienists to understand and navigate the licensure requirements across different states.
Support Continuous Education: Integrate ADHA’s continuing education resources, including webinars and in-person events, directly into the map’s functionality.
Integration with the Chairside Recruitment Program: ADHA & the Delta Dental Foundation are partnering together to develop a recruitment campaign to address the dental hygienists’ workforce shortage and lack of diversity. This licensure map will serve as a resource incorporated into the marketing campaign soliciting new prospects.
Once created, the map will be maintained by an ADHA project manager, fully funded by ADHA general operating funds.
CareQuest Institute has provided two grants to the ADHA in the past, supporting the ADHA’s Dental Hygiene Leadership Summit, through the Executive Director’s Fund. This grant will fund the complete development, design, hosting, and marketing of the licensure map, primarily through ADHA consultants. This request represents 8% of the organization’s overall operating budget.
