Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) national community of academic leaders committed to developing an accomplished family medicine workforce, including physicians, PAs, nurse practitioners, behavioral health specialists, nurses and other health care professionals.

CareQuest Institute has provided $966,650 in grants to Society of Teachers of Family Medicine since 2009 and has also provided an additional $826,214 for Smiles For Life through Arcora Foundation and the National Interprofessional Initiative on Oral Health funding.

STFM is seeking funding to support the addition of a module, including video content, to the curriculum related to Silver Diamine Fluoride. Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) is a topical medication used to treat and prevent dental caries.  In September 2022, a CPT code was approved allowing non-dental clinicians to bill for application of SDF. The new curriculum module will raise awareness of SDF as a tool to treat and prevent dental caries, provide training and education for professionals to safely and effectively use SDF, and increase confidence in implementing a new scope of care. Members of the CareQuest Innovations team are being consulted in the development of the new module.

The requested amount represents less than 1% of the organization's overall budget. Budget line items include stipends for content experts and editors for the module, video production fees and website fees.
