The American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) is the largest national organization representing the professional interests of dental hygienists across the country. ADHA supports hygienists throughout their careers and advances the profession by developing new career paths, expanding opportunities for care delivery, and providing training and information.

This investment, through the Executive Director’s Fund, is for support with the ADHA 2021 Annual Conference. This event took place both in person and virtually, with the in-person part on June 18-20 in Phoenix, AZ, and the virtual part on June 28-30. The event celebrates the dental hygienist profession and recognizes the challenges faced over the past year. This funding supports the Opening General Session, with speaker Dr. Cara V. James, PHD, who addressed critical content around Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as it pertains to both the profession and greater society. Dr. James is the President and CEO of Grantmakers in Health and a member of the Pandemic Response Workgroup, and her participation in the event is critical to the ADHA’s goal of supporting the dental hygiene profession through trusted education and advancing DEI initiatives through the profession. This is the second year that the ADHA has focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion in their opening session, as part of their ongoing commitment to bring equity more meaningfully into their work.
