This proposal will support the Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT) to collaborate with funders in North Texas and respond to current gaps in funding to support emergent community needs as a result of the 2021 winter storms. CFT prioritizes an equity and racial equity lens to their work and note that nonprofits led by BIPOC are oftentimes left unfunded or underfunded and, as a result, they have adjusted grantmaking to ensure we are addressing these historically underfunded nonprofits in our funds, particularly because they are often the organizations working hand-in-hand with the most underserved communities. To date, CFT has already received a high volume of requests for support from nonprofits and are prioritizing need based on their services in the community, budget capacity and leadership.
