Health Care For All advocates for health justice in Massachusetts by working to promote health equity and ensure coverage and access for all.
Health Care For All is applying for funding through the Advancing Health Equity through Oral Health Fund, under the Strengthen Community Voice and State Advocacy Sub-Program. With input from the Health Care for All consumer helpline, input from internal conversations about health equity, and information from their free-of-charge Health Justice Campaign program, Health Care For All identified four policy priorities that, with funding, they will advance in 2021. The four policy priorities are: 1) collaborating with other oral health advocates, including the MA Department of Public Health, to submit recommendations on the Medicaid 1115 Waiver regarding Oral Health Integration, behavioral health, and social determinants of health; 2) licensure of dental therapists as a strategy to increase access to oral healthcare for Medicaid beneficiaries; 3) establishment of a Special Legislative Commission on Oral Health to serve as a surveilling body and establish an infrastructure for data collection and management around oral healthcare in MA; 4) continue to defend the Medicaid Adult Dental Benefit in MA in its current state, including coverage of teledentistry, as MA faces budget cuts in 2021.
DentaQuest Partnership for Oral health Advancement has funded Health Care For All since 2004, with grant amounts ranging from $500-$750,000. Health Care For All has demonstrated that they are a high-performing grantee, with this year’s intended policy agenda building upon last year’s successes.
Budget line items include a significant amount for staff and the remaining funding is allocated for campaign/office materials.
