This grant is to support the Florida Institute for Health Innovation (FIHI) in strengthening it’s position as the backbone for oral health in the state by driving new models of person-centered care, producing advocacy tools and reports to support advocacy, and facilitating a network of statewide partners to align around a central oral health agenda. As Florida has struggles with an evolving state Medicaid infrastructure, and amidst an evolving response to COVID-19, the role of FIHI in holding the statewide oral health backbone becomes more and more critical. In building off of historical work to pilot new models of integrated care, center the voices of marginalized communities within the development of policy priorities, and convening statewide stakeholders, FIHI seeks to leverage their capacity and network to drive oral health systems change. With this project, FIHI will do an analysis of, and expand on, opportunities to integrate oral health into primary care, publish and disseminate a Consumer Engagement Report, and lead the Florida OPEN Network through a strategic planning process. These activities will position FIHI, and the network, as leaders and influencers in driving oral health policy within the state. The budget for this proposal is $86,100 goes to support staff time and supplies for the project, as well as some supplies related to resource development and dissemination.
