Grantee Address

Alaska Primary Care Association
1231 Gambell St. Suite 200
ANCHORAGE, AK
United States

This investment supports the Alaska Primary Care Association (APCA) to build support for maintaining their adult dental benefit, establish a quality benchmark and scale collaborative and integrated care around a diabetes measure, and implement a data-driven referral tracking system. APCA has been a long-term partner of DentaQuest through the Strengthening the Oral Health Safety Net initiative and the National Oral Health Innovation and Integration Network (NOHIIN) and has played a strong role in restructuring and strengthening NOHIIN in 2019. APCA has identified priority areas of threats to their Medicaid adult dental benefit, but at the same time the opportunity to engage the state Medicaid program in conversations around oral health value-based payment. Though, there are also high needs on spreading the coordination and integration of care within the Alaska safety net. Their goals are to utilize research and advocacy to protect Medicaid cuts while at the same time leveraging the attention to push for value-based payment models. Additionally, they want to design and pilot a data-driven referral tracking platform and build supports around collecting data on A1C that will help to demonstrate the value of integrated care. $95,000 will support staff, supplies, and travel in order to fulfill the deliverables.
