This investment supports United Health Organization (UHO) to act as a lead convener in the Detroit community as part of the Grassroots Engagement Strategy. Specifically, UHO will continue to build on previous work with faith-based organizations to build a network of health ministries in Detroit, and local schools, including the Wayne County Community College, to educate community members on oral health as a part of overall health, and change the public perception of oral health, with a target of increasing oral health in overall health dialogue and in public policy. UHO also serves as the backbone organization of the Wayne County Oral Health Coalition, and a partner to other regional oral health coalitions in Michigan and the state coalition. The budget for this proposal is $70,800 and is primarily to support staff time, travel, operational expenses, and mini grants for community partners.
