The purpose of this grant is to support the Florida Institute for Health Innovation in supporting and aligning the Florida Oral Health Alliance and Florida Oral Health Alignment Network around an oral health agenda focused on medical-dental integration (MDI), workforce, and oral health program improvements within the state's Medicaid program. This project builds on previous work to launch a medical-dental integration pilot and to design a comprehensive Consumer Engagement Report that examines state policies and programs, including a health impact assessment. Specifically, in 2019, this work will include conclusion of the MDI pilot, the drafting and release of a MDI toolkit, and cross-pollinating of key learnings around sustainability. As well, this year will include the release of the Consumer Engagement Report and subsequent policy efforts across the state. The impact of this project will include a greater alignment and galvanized approach towards moving the needle on oral health policies, programs, and innovative care models in Florida. This project aligns with the OH2020 goals of improving the public perception of the value of oral health as a part of overall health, eradicating dental disease in children, and integrating oral health into person-centered health care.
The budget for this project is $80,000 and entirely goes to staff time and indirect expenses.
