New Jersey: Support to the New Jersey Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics (NJAAP) to design and implement a statewide preventive Pediatric and Adult Oral Health Wellness Action Plan. Using a collective impact model, NJAAP (though the New Jersey Dental Association Oral Health Coalition’s platform) will strengthen current partnerships and form new ones to work together in the development of an oral health wellness campaign aimed at educating families about the importance of preventive oral health. The project will focus on supporting state-based champions and leaders, developing effective care models and financing mechanisms, as well as engaging the advocacy community, care providers, and families. The proposal aligns with the Oral Health 2020 goals of mandatory inclusion of adult dental benefit in publicly funded health insurance (Goal 1) and eradication of dental disease in children (Goal 4.) $150,000 will support the personnel, organizational, and convening capacity necessary to expand outreach to public and private stakeholders at the state, county, and community levels to develop the action plan.
