Delaware: This investment supports Practice Without Pressure in their efforts to provide dental services to mentally and physically disabled persons who need desensitizing sessions prior and during dental procedures. Practice Specialists engage with the individuals, families, care-giving, dentists, and hygienists at the two dental operatory sites. Funds from this grant will support the purchase of specialized dental equipment and technology to make the best use of staff time. There are efforts and commitments from a Representative, State of Delaware Appropriations and Joint Finance Committee Chair to pursue legislation which will provide dental care for those with disabilities over the age of 21 and require insurers to cover fees which are incurred during practice sessions. Grant funds provided through the Community Response Fund will improve access to care and efficiency of the Clinic.
