Funding to support Critical Learning Systems to host its Women’s Conference and Health Fair, an oral health outreach clinic, presenting a unique opportunity for intervention on the problems of dental caries and periodontal disease. The low-income communities targeted by the clinic face high incidences of dental caries and periodontal disease correlating with high incidences of obesity and diabetes; both of which are chronic diseases that have direct implications on one’s oral health. Similarly, the demand for oral health screenings is evident in other neighboring communities of Wedgewood/Houston, Vine Hill, Chestnut Hill, Trimble Bottoms, and Napier Projects. The conference will be held on April 10-14, 2014 at the Nashville Renaissance Hotel and Conference Center in Nashville, TN.
