This investment supports the Center for Health Care Strategies (CHCS) to conduct a national study of access to dental care among adult Medicaid beneficiaries and to provide technical assistance (TA) to the national grantee network of the DentaQuest Foundation to support their efforts around the Medicaid target. The study and TA will focus on effective strategies and roadmaps, program administration, national strategy, financing mechanisms, supporting state-based champions and leaders, and informing efforts within the oral health advocacy community. Both activities will inform strategic planning and decision-making by the Foundation’s grantees and their oral health stakeholder networks with the goal of helping states improve dental coverage and access among Medicaid-enrolled adults. $456,711 will support the personnel and TA capacity necessary to explore, produce, and subsequently disseminate Medicaid knowledge products. The grant funds provided align with the Oral Health 2020 goal of mandatory inclusion of an adult dental benefit in publicly funded health insurance.
