This investment support the Neighborhood Involvement Program (N.I.P.) to provide access to oral health care services for individuals in the community who are underserved, uninsured, and underinsured in the Twin cities area of Minnesota. Disparities in access to care have made this population vulnerable to oral health disease and decay. The Community Clinic provides a sliding fee scale for uninsured and underinsured patients, resulting in more than 7,500 unduplicated medical and dental visits in 2013. N.I.P. utilizes an integrated care model to provide comprehensive care to this population. $10,000 will support the clinic in its efforts to retrofit an existing medical exam room with dental equipment to provide services for dental patients. Grant funds provided through the Community Response Fund to improve access to care and increase the clinic’s capacity to provide oral health services to an underserved population.
