This investment supports the United Sikhs to continue the Family Based Oral Health Promotion in Sikh South Asian Communities program to implement a community based oral disease prevention intervention strategy. The intervention strategy was developed in collaboration with the United Sikhs, a community based organization, and the New York University Prevention Research Center. This community based participatory research program is providing an evidence base around the effectiveness of community developed interventions in the prevention of oral disease. $124,993 will support program staff, materials development, and a rigorous outcomes-based evaluation to demonstrate the effectiveness of the intervention in the Sikh community. Grant funds provided through the NCC Oral Health Initiative to support community engagement in oral disease prevention.
