Continued support to the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics to begin the Implementation Phase of the Oral Health 2014 Initiative, and to realize their vision of impact that: pregnant women and parents/caregivers of children age 0-3 will have greater awareness of the impact of oral health on overall health, practical steps they can take to achieve good oral health, and the importance of establishing a dental home by age one. Illinois’ activities over the next two years align with the Foundation’s focus on the eradication of dental disease in children by supporting systems changes that will improve oral health education and resources for families and caregivers of young children, and increase access to preventive services for young children in the state. Grant funds will support staff guidance of the implementation plan, overhead costs related to the execution of the plan, and consultant support to achieve the key objectives listed above.
