Through this investment, the HealthPath Foundation of Ohio and Oral Health Ohio will support oral health efforts around the state through education and advocacy, expanding the state oral health coalition’s presence in Appalachian Ohio, and implementing its new strategic plan. Funding at this time would capitalize on growing momentum and realignment of oral health priorities in the state. Specifically, Oral Health Ohio will educate state policymakers and advocate for youth and adult dental benefits in publicly funded coverage; increase oral health literacy and preventive care among Ohio’s diverse populations, including Appalachian and refugee communities; engage in interprofessional collaboration and education on oral health; and continue to weave and strengthen the state’s oral health coalition. This work will move Ohio’s oral health network collectively toward the Oral Health 2020 goals of improving the public perception of the value of oral health to overall health and including oral health in health dialogue and public policy. $100,000 will support the personnel, travel and convening capacity, educational and campaign materials, and advocacy work necessary to implement the project.
