National: This investment supports the University of Maryland, School of Dentistry to design competencies that will ensure that dental students can properly demonstrate the skills, knowledge, and values associated with a given Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) standard. Specifically, the University of Maryland, School of Dentistry would utilize the resources within the many American Dental Education Association's dental schools to create common solutions to the design and format of competencies. The program would involve seven competencies within the CODA standard under practice management, health care systems, ethics, professionalism, and behavioral science. Once designed, these seven modules would reside in the public domain and be available to all dental, dental hygiene and other related students registered at CODA-accredited schools.
