Texas: This investment supports the South Plains Rural Health Services (SPRHS) to continue to meet the need for quality dental services in Dawson County, Lamesa, Texas and the surrounding rural communities. Specifically, SPRHS will purchase a new dental chair for its dental clinic that serves low-income patients five days a week, providing a variety of dental services, including exams, dental cleanings, X rays, fluoride treatments, sealants, extractions, root canals, and tooth colored fillings, crowns, dentures, and partials.
The dental chair to be replaced is twelve years old, and has required regular and costly repairs over the past year to keep it in working order. Without replacing this older unit, maintenance costs will continue to increase. This down time in terms of function will affect the number of patients the dental clinic is able to see on a daily basis. $14,039 will cover the cost of a new fully functional dental chair, with all needed equipment for the operatory to be replaced.
