This investment supports Oral Health Florida (with the Florida Public Health Association Foundation as its fiscal agent) to serve as Florida’s hub for oral health advocacy and network expansion. Specifically, Oral Health Florida will work to expand community and individual engagement; develop and implement a strategy to inform elected officials and other decision-makers of the status of oral health in Florida and the collective effort to improve outcomes; determine public policy opportunities and develop and operationalize strategies for change; and engage Florida’s three largest school districts in conversation how the oral health network can support their efforts to incorporate oral health into their schools and develop and implement a resultant action plan. With Oral Health Florida’s support, the Florida’s oral health network will collectively work toward the Oral Health 2020 goal of including oral health in health dialogue and public policy. This collaborative work will help advance the systems change outcome of ensuring that oral health is a key components of health policy and that optimal oral health literacy is in place. $81,466 will support consultants’ time and stakeholder convening capacity needed to implement the project.
