Continued support to the National Oral Health Innovation and Integration Network (NOHIIN), with the mission is to unify and empower a network of Primary Care Associations (PCAs) and safety net providers to be champions of oral health as a part of overall health. The learning collaborative model implemented by NOHIIN will continue to support and resource 14 core group PCAs and participating 21 PCAs, ultimately integrating all 50 states. NOHIIN enables PCAs to access relationships, resources and training tools needed to support their community health centers (CHCs) for the creation of an innovative, equitable safety net healthcare system where oral health is an integrated, critical component of person-centered, comprehensive healthcare.
As a national network of PCAs, NOHIIN will make marked steps in 2017 towards the ultimate goals of:
• Empowering PCA members to become champions of oral health as a part of overall health within the community health center setting, thereby weaving an equitable safety net healthcare system where oral health is an integrated, critical component of person-centered, comprehensive healthcare.
• Developing leadership within the state PCAs through this network, to improve the PCAs’ ability/capacity to advocate for safety net oral health needs among policy makers at the state and national levels.
• Improving the PCA’s ability to support their CHCs in creating integrated models for person-centered care, as well as encouraging interprofessional collaboration between primary care and oral health providers.
• Integration and spread of the redesigned Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Implementation Guide (a project of DQF and Quallis Health) that elevates the delivery of preventive oral health care as a component of routine medical care and enhances partnerships between primary care and dentistry.
NOHIIN participating PCAs include: Community Health Center Association of Connecticut, Community Health Care Association of the Dakotas, Florida Association of Community Health Centers, Indiana Primary Health Care Association, Kentucky Primary Care Association, Louisiana Primary Care Association, Maine Primary Care Association, Missouri Primary Care Association, Montana Primary Care Association, New Jersey Primary Care Association, Rhode Island Health Center Association, District of Columbia Primary Care Association, Oklahoma Primary Care Association, Virginia Community Healthcare Association, Colorado Community Health Network, Wisconsin Primary Healthcare Association, Health Center Association of Nebraska, Idaho Primary Care Association, Mid-Atlantic Association of Community Health Centers, South Carolina Primary Health Care Association, Texas Association of Community Health Centers, and Washington Association of Community and Migrant Health Centers.
