Healthy Connections, Inc. is a federally qualified community health center located in rural western Arkansas. They serve the uninsured and undersured and offer a sliding fee scale. Many children and adolescents have small mouths and it is uncomfortable and difficult to take digital x-rays, currently Health Connections must use an adult size x-ray sensor throughout the entire patient population. Many patients refuse to have the x-rays taken when subjected to the adult size sensor. Healthy Connections is requesting $7,977 funding from the Community Response Fund to purchase a new, digital pediatric sensor to better serve the patient population in a comfortable manner resulting in a positive dental experience. The new GXS-700 Sensor system is a high performance sensor that captures high resolution images, providing more than 20 visible line pairs per millimeter. The ergonomically designed sensors with rounded corners and smooth edge finishes comfortably fit the anatomical shape of the oral cavity.
