Children's Dental Health Project

National: This investment supports the Children's Dental Health Project (CDHP) to identify and advance federal policy that supports oral health coverage, promote effective oral health messaging, and build a consumer-focused policy initiative for adult oral health. Working in partnership with other organizations and advocacy communities, CDHP will aim to stabilize advancements in oral health made over the last two decades, while also looking to the Congress and the Trump Administration for opportunities to build on those successes. Specific priorities for the year include ensuring that children do not lose coverage for comprehensive dental services, supporting advancement on testing new payment and delivery models focused on improving oral health outcomes, and exploring strategies to increase access to high-quality dental care over the lifespan. The project will move forward the systems change outcome of ensuring that oral health is viewed as a key component of health policy. It primarily aligns with the Oral Health 2020 goal of eradicating dental disease in children and the target that by 2020 85% of children reach age five without a cavity. $787,767 will support staffing and consultants needed to implement the project.
