District of Columbia: The Health Determinants of Early School Success convening, taking place November 17th in Washington D.C. is a significant learning opportunity for more than 100 early childhood funders and advocates, along with program partners and sector and field-leading organizations and individuals. The event will feature leading experts on Medicaid and EPSDT and an opportunity for funders and other leaders to have a conversation about the critical interaction between health and education. There are four results for the meeting: (1) lift up the health determinants of early school success, (2) make the case for the role of Medicaid / EPSDT to expand coverage and quality of care for low-income children, (3) raise up promising practices and financing strategies leveraging Medicaid and EPSDT, and (4) provide actionable achievable next steps for funders in their communities and states. The Campaign for Grade-Level Reading is requesting President’s Fund support in the amount of $25,000 for rental of the National Press Club venue, the costs of the breakfast and luncheon, the audio visual costs and a portion of the expenses for presenters travel and hotel costs.
