Pennsylvania: La Comunidad Hispana (LCH) serves the health needs of the largely rural area of southern Chester County, PA. LCH’s clients are 90% Latino and overwhelmingly low-income: 85% have a household income of 200% or less of the federal poverty level, and fully half are at or below 100% of the poverty level. Three-quarters are uninsured. LCH is seeking equipment for their Dental Center, specifically requesting Community Response Fund support for the purchase of two chairs (Ultratrim LR chairs w/ Silhouette, Asepsis21 LR Unit, and L/R Concpt Dntl Light – Ultra), which will cost approximately $10,000 apiece, for a total cost of $20,000. LCH anticipates that approximately half of their clients will be covered by Medicaid, CHIP or Medicare, the payments from which will cover the annual costs of operations (including routine maintenance of the dental chairs) and of care for the uninsured clients, who will pay on a sliding scale.
