National: Support to Health Affairs, a multidisciplinary organization and peer-reviewed journal, to highlight key topics in oral health, health care, and policy in a special issue of the journal to be published in late 2016. This special feature will contain Health Affairs’ first thematic focus on oral health, and will shine a spotlight on oral health with an interdisciplinary discussion and analysis of past policy and future policy options and investment. The issue will consist of 6-8 peer-reviewed articles and will be the premier compendium of research and policy thought on oral health. The composition will include research articles and analyses and commentaries from leading researchers and scholars, analysts, industry experts, and health and health care stakeholders. These articles will inform health care policy makers at the national, state, and local levels, as well as prompt a reexamination by providers, payers, and industry of the best options for improving access to oral health care. The proposal aligns with the Oral Health 2020 goal of improving public perception of the value of oral health within overall health and the target that oral health is increasingly included in health dialogue and public policy. $50,000 will support personnel time and cover costs associated with publishing, production, and subsequent dissemination of this special oral health issue.
