Support to ACHIEVA/ The Arch of Greater Pittsburgh to act as a lead convener in the Pittsburgh community as part of the Grassroots Engagement Strategy. With a focus on providing lifelong support to people with disabilities, The Arch of Greater Pittsburgh operates a disability healthcare initiative that works through education, advocacy, and policy change to increase access to care for the disabled. Oral Health 2020 investment of $100,000 will be used to focus efforts in southwestern Pennsylvania, centered mostly on the greater Pittsburgh region of the state. The Arc of Greater Pittsburgh is developing a network of partners that serve rural, suburban and urban areas with a diverse population of socio-economic and cultural groups. The Arch of Greater Pittsburg plans to use funding to support and engage local oral health champions rooted in their own underserved communities to bring additional, committed stakeholders to the table not only to provide input but by joining the planning efforts in a deeper, more engaged way. All of their Year Two efforts will move the Arc of Greater Pittsburgh into spearheading a collaborative oral health priorities planning process over the next year that will aim to foster local resident participation in the setting of 2020 goals and targets. This investment aligns with the Oral Health 2020 goal to improve the public perception of the value of oral health to overall health.
