National: Support to the Families USA to build the infrastructure needed to promote and sustain a multi-year, multi-faceted campaign aimed at securing oral health coverage for everyone, and to promote awareness among policy makers, opinion leaders, and the public about the need for expanded oral health coverage. Specific objectives for Year I include: identifying and hiring campaign staff; establishing working relationships with key campaign partners; building diverse coalition to support and promote campaign goals; identifying and cultivating relationships with oral health champions; designing structure for an “Oral Health Coverage Story Bank”; and laying the policy research, communications, and fundraising structures needed to ensure the campaign’s success in future years. $506,674 will help support staffing, website development, and convening and teleconferencing capacity necessary to implement the project. The proposal primarily aligns with the Oral Health 2020 goal of including an adult dental benefit in publicly funded health coverage and the target that at least 30 states have an extensive Medicaid adult dental benefit.
