The American Association of Public Health Dentistry is the leading national organization that promotes oral health through evidence-based public health measures. AAPHD, formed in 1937, addresses challenges to improve the oral health and overall health for all through the support of effective programs of oral health and disease prevention. During his tenure as AAPHD president, Dr. Monopoli strategically led the Association though a period of significant change. Specifically, under his leadership AAPHD developed and implemented a new governance structure, revised our bylaws, and developed a new strategic plan. Through his thoughtful guidance, the Association was able to successfully emerge through a time of turmoil to main dental public health as one of the 9 specialties recognized by the American Dental Association, while at the same time increasing the growth of AAPHD’s membership. In order to commemorate Dr. Monopoli’s leadership, the American Association of Public Health Dentistry is requesting President’s Fund support in the amount of $25,000.
