National: Support to the School-Based Health Alliance (SBHA) to develop and implement learning processes that can lead to greater innovation, action, and change among the 10 largest school districts in strengthening and advancing oral health. By creating the shared learning space, SBHA will help these school districts in building, supporting, strengthening, and growing their efforts around incorporating oral health into their schools. Specific goals for this year include establishing a learning community focused on increasing consent rates for services in school-based oral health programs; designing a resource repository for information, tools, and exemplary evidence-based school-based oral health programs, clinical practices, policy advocacy, and parent and community engagement strategies; convening a school-based oral health policy and finance group in each school district to address funding and sustainability issues; and organizing an in-person meeting of teams from the participating school districts. The project has the potential to support improvement across all four systems, and will help achieve the Oral Health 2020 goal of incorporating oral health into primary education system and the target of having 10 largest school districts incorporate oral health into their systems. $299,920 will be used to support personnel time necessary to launch the learning collaborative and the policy and finance group; travel and meeting expenses; consultant services; and other direct and indirect costs associated with the implementation of this project.
