Children's Dental Health Project
United States

National: Support to the Children’s Dental Health Project (CDHP) to advance children’s and perinatal oral health by expanding strategies and policy options for preventing and managing dental caries. Specifically, CDHP will work to strengthen the breadth and depth of the oral health network to increase policymakers’ interest in supporting prevention and disease management approaches, stabilize public funding by helping to shape the re-emerging Congressional debate on funding for Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and make the existing oral health surveillance system stronger by utilizing findings from CDHP’s current DentaQuest Foundation-funded project on a comprehensive oral health measurement system. $250,920 will help support staffing, consultant services, and convening capacity necessary to implement the project. The proposal aligns with the Oral Health 2020 goal of eradicating dental disease in children and the target that by 2020, 85% of children reach age five without a cavity.
