National: This investment supports the Campaign for Dental Health (CDH), housed in the American Academy of Pediatrics, to educate, mobilize, and provide support to stakeholders as needed to take action in response to emergent threats and build a national strategy in support of community water fluoridation (CWF). Specifically, CDH will develop and distribute materials to empower oral health advocates with key information and strategies to defend or implement CWF; educate and broaden its network partners in order to build alignment and disseminate pro-fluoridation resources; and hold a convening to engage traditional and non-traditional stakeholders in efforts to develop and spread a national fluoridation strategy. CWF is an equitable solution that contributes to the prevention of dental caries and tooth decay among children and adults, as most people have access to public water sources. The resources and strategies developed in partnership with CDH will equip advocates, community members, and policymakers with evidence-based information so that they can make informed decisions and improve the public perception of the value of oral health. $189,115 will be used to support personnel time necessary for the coordination and execution of the proposal.
